🚀 QA Strategies for Untested Projects — Turning Chaos into Stability 🚀

At TestTactix, we believe in empowering Quality Assurance engineers to thrive in challenging environments. When you’re assigned to a project that’s halfway through development and hasn’t been tested yet, it can seem daunting. Here’s how you can successfully onboard and transform such projects into stable releases:
- Evaluate QA Needs: Start by identifying business-critical areas and analysing user feedback, like support tickets, to prioritise where to begin testing. My experience with a healthcare management system project, I prioritised testing the patient data entry and retrieval processes.
- Set Up a QA Framework: Establish a separate test environment that mirrors production. Choose tools that align with your project needs. In one project, I selected Playwright due to my familiarity with Java, ensuring rapid, efficient testing.
- Prioritise Critical Tests: Collaborate with your business analyst to prioritise features based on their business impact. Focus on automating critical tests first to prevent bugs in vital areas. You can use 80/20 principle.
- Collaborate with Developers: Build a culture of teamwork by involving QA early in development. My close collaboration with developers led to fewer bugs and a smoother development cycle.
- Measure Success & Adapt: Track metrics such as bug counts, test coverage, and support tickets. Create feedback loops to continually improve your QA process.
By leveraging these strategies, you can transform untested projects into stable, high-quality systems.
